Fancy Nancy has taught me that fancy isn't always best. Sometimes, it's better to enjoy the simple things in life. Let's face the truth of this book. Fancy things are fantastic, but make life a tad more complicated. Of course, you can always go directly back to being fancy with glitter on top after you have learned this lesson which is exactly what Nancy does in this book. The cover is "glitterfied" and Nancy comes close to being Kay Thompson's and Hilary Knight's Eloise, but not quite. High praise indeed! It's a wonderfully illustrated book and, like Eloise, it owes a great deal of its charm to the talented illustrator involved. In this case that would be Robin Preiss Glasser who is just a genius. When I grow up I want to be her. In the meantime, I do have my copy signed by Robin so I feel that I have made a good start.Brava Robin (insert clapping sounds here)!
